Creative Women’s Circle existed to support, promote and inspire women working in creative industries via networking events, articles, podcasts and publications.
2004
Creative Women's Circle (CWC) was founded in 2004 in Melbourne by designer Dearne Mills. Small group meetups were coordinated by Dearne as a way for Melbourne-based creative women to connect and share their work and support each other on their business journeys.
2009
Graphic designer Tess McCabe took over the organisation of the group in 2009. Assisted by a wonderful group of volunteers and supporters, CWC expanded to include local and international guest speakers, workshops and events in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Two books by Tess McCabe in the Conversations with Creative Women series were published under the Creative Women's Circle banner.
2015
Creative Women's Circle evolved into a not-for-profit member-based association in 2015, and was run by an enthusiastic and passionate volunteer board. During this time, it continued to expand its reach through a variety of events, workshops, and activities to support its member base. Tess McCabe retired as president of Creative Women's Circle in 2018, and Samantha Jayaweera, Amber Bonney, and Julie Ockerby were elected as successive presidents.
2024
Creative Women's Circle rebranded to The Exchange Society. It currently supports its member base through events and activities across Australia and online.
